Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar are boundless when it comes to our skin, hair and overall health. Apple Cider Vinegar is known to be nature’s most potent ingredient having numerous health and beauty benefits.

“Apple Cider Vinegar is a vinegar made from apples, sugar, and yeast”

Now it might appear that it’s a miracle cure and we all should be using ACV (as we commonly call it) into our health and beauty regime, but here is a caution ACV contains acetic acid as its main component which might not go well in our body.

Having said that, we should always use ACV with precautions and patch test wherever it is concerned with our skin.

Following are the Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar:

1. Morning Detox

ACV in the morning can be the best way to detox your body as it significantly enhances metabolism, improves the pH balance and helps prevent the further accumulation of fat and it improves digestion too!

It might cause a little discomfort in the stomach initially but eventually, when your body will get used to it, you will feel the difference.

ACV doesn’t work overnight or for that matter, any natural ingredient would take time to get used to your body then only you will be able to see the results. Remember consistency is the key!

What you will need:

  • Apple Cider Vinegar (2 tbsp)
  • Honey (1 tbsp)
  • Lemon juice (1 and a half tbsp)
  • Cinnamon ( 1/2 tbsp – optional)
  • Water (1 glass)

I would suggest lukewarm water for the drink. Mix all the ingredients and drink it (take sips in intervals of 5-10 secs). You can drink this twice a day gradually. Give this about a month to see changes 🙂

Important: Sipping apple cider vinegar may harm our teeth, that’s why it is recommended to use a straw to drink it.

Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar are unbounded if you know how to obtain it effectively.

2. For Healthier & Happier Skin.

Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

We know how we love using toners, but wait! Does your skin love them too? I know conventionally we all have been using alcohol-based toners for our skin, which disrupts the pH balance of the skin, and instead of making it super supple, it makes it even drier/ But thanks to ACV for being the skin repairer!

ACV maintains the pH balance of the skin and the acetic acid present in it helps in gentle exfoliation and hydrates the skin.

ACV has a host of active components which helps in fading acne scars (not the deep ones), dark spots and pigmentation. Not only it helps with spots and scars, but it also takes dead skin cells off your skin only to prevent it from further acne.

Coming to how you can use it as a toner, you will need:

  1. Distilled Water
  2. Apple Cider Vinegar

You should always be mindful of using these ingredients. Always patch test before using.

Application: Mix ACV and water in 1:1 ratio. Eventually, you can alter the proportion of ACV if you feel it will be best effective for you in a particular manner. Those with oily skin can leave overnight but those who have dry skin should avoid keeping it overnight as it might cause irritation. Don’t put into your eyelids as it may cause burn to that area.

Apple Cider Vinegar as a Face Mask:

ACV, when mixed with Bentonite Clay, makes a wonderful facial mask which claims to be the world’s most powerful face mask itself. I have seen many people using it and boasting about the same.

The only issue is people with dry skin should avoid it, as it sucks up all the excess oil and dirt from the skin which might not go well with dry skinned people. The chances are that it might take away the natural moisture that our skin has already.

The procedure of the mask:

You will need apple cider vinegar (with the mother), Bentonite Clay, a bowl and a spoon. Now the bowl and spoon you would use should not be of metal as the above concoction doesn’t go well together with metal.

Mix a big spoon of bentonite clay and a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar together. You will see a little fizz for some seconds but fret not keep mixing until it becomes a proper paste. Look for the consistency carefully. It should not be too thin that it drops off your face or too thick that it would take forever to dry.

If you have acne prone skin, you can mix 2-3 drops of tea tree essential oil. Patch test before you apply to your face. Essential oils are highly concentrated and cause allergies or skin burn.

I personally would recommend using Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay, it has the most positive reviews than any other brands. Apple cider vinegar should be with the mother!

Aztec Secret - Indian Healing Clay. This mask was the most voted by you in the recent research series (if you missed it, check the “mask” highlight). It is 100% natural calcium bentonite clay which you can mix with water or apple cider vinegar (or add more ingredients - cool experiment if you know what you are doing!). I suggest using vinegar - easier to mix (bubbles!), smoother texture, added pros of AHAs in it - check the difference in texture on the last pic. I really like it, because it’s super strong and effective: it makes your blood circulate (yes, face pulsates) and it sucks unwanted content from your pores. When I remove it I am red as a tomato but it’s not a burn/rash it’s “I just ran 5 miles” red. I can see how it can be too strong for some (it is the strongest mask I ever tried!), so try it on the small area first and be careful. I also wouldn’t use it too often, kinda scary. Only $8 — 5/5. Read the comments! And share your ways of using it and thoughts.
